Lady Audrey's Gallery is pleased to have snagged another fiber artist, and surprise, she is the Mother of our award winning fiber artist Susan Cane! Rose E. Alfano received her Associates Degree in Fine Art from Northwestern Connecticut Community College, Winsted, in 2005. Fiber and fabric are her media and she creates pieces of art (quilts) which include abstract design, landscapes and portraits. Rather than working with paint or crayon or pen, the line, shape, color and texture of printed and woven fabrics inspire the content and size of each piece. Most pieces are layered and quilted either by hand or by machine. Some pieces are stretched over frames, some are "soft-hung" and some are framed. Rose had a very successful one person show of 32 pieces at Crystal Peak in Winsted in 2005. Her quilts are in private collections and over 200 have been donated to organizations as fund raisers for various childrens' camps, hospitals and shelters. She continues to work on pieces for causes which are important to her. She also will occasionally do a commissioned piece in addition to working, traveling and consulting with her very talented daughter. What a team, and Lady Audrey's Gallery represents them both!!
